About Me
My name is Aniket Tapre, an Entrepreneur and Investor. I see myself as a specialist for ‘start ups’ and have been instrumental in the start-up of four successful companies. My background is in Commerce and IT with my education gained at the University of Pune and Deakin University where I obtained my Bachelors and Master’s Degree of Commerce as well as an Advance Diploma in Ecommerce; a Diploma in Digital art and animation and a certification in eight programming languages. I have also become a certified project manager and have received a diploma in Cyber Law and Intellectual Property.
For over twelve years I have worked in the IT&T Industry and have worked with seven companies from start-ups to mid-range. During this time teams of up to two hundred people were managed and overseen by me, successfully delivering multimillion dollar projects in the Web, Software and elearning industries.
In the past I have also worked as a Director at Derive Interactive; as the Director for Business Development at Next Solutions in Australia; and have been the Senior Consultant at Brainvisa Technologies. All of these companies and the current ones have laid the stepping stones on my path to business success, acumen and wealth.
Working and starting up new ventures specifically has broadened and enhanced my Sales and Business development skills which enables me to help, provide advice and offer my experience with other start-up and established organisations. I have experience in the UK, EU and APAC markets and because of the Global Financial Crisis and constant state of flux associated with it, I am always reading to stay current with both national and international trends.
I believe that in order to achieve balance and harmony in life it is important to balance business and pleasure. Other things that are enjoyable besides the technology and gadgets about which this blog is based, are socialising and enjoying a laugh with friends. Reading is a personal pleasure and some of my favourite books are : Blue Ocean Strategy, Autobiography of a Yogi, Conversations with God, Shantaram, Spider and A Starfish, Build to Last, Good to Great and the 7 habits of highly effective people. Of course some of these books are also business based which just goes to show that even in my leisure time, I am still keeping a finger on the pulse.
I see myself as a well-rounded individual and besides my achievements in the business world, I have also achieved highly in the sporting arena – practicing TaeKwonDo for 14 years and being affiliated with the World TaeKwonDo Federation (WTF). I have a 2nd DAN black belt and have been named the district gold medallist six times, five times the state gold medallist and twice the national bronze medallist. I am also a Certified National Instructor and Referee. TaeKwonDo, is a Korean martial art and besides being a means of self-defence it also teaches one the art of meditation, breathing and philosophy. These elements are brought into my everyday life which helps me remain calm in the face of stress and teaches me to take each problem on its own merit and as they come.
In business it is important to realise which opportunities to seize and react to and which to let fall by the wayside. I like to look at problems from all sides before making final decisions and taking all the facts into consideration before making any life changing decisions. The aim by of this blog is to share these ideas and how they are implemented with other decision makers. This blog is also a way to explore some of the newer concepts in the business world and see how they can be used to the best possible advantage. By looking at programming code and development, I can act as the interface between the technical and the non-technical, investigating whether a product has viable business applications or indeed any other useful applications to the consumer.
My interest in gadgets is palpable. I enjoy getting my hands on different technologies and trying them out. Some of the newer applications for the iphone for example make one wonder why they had never been implemented before. This blog will therefore incorporate a review section so that I can share how these new gadgets and gizmos have a bearing on us and try to predict where they will lead us in the future. Certain gadgets don’t have only business applications and will be reviewed despite falling more on the fun and frivolous side of the line.
In conclusion, welcome to my blog and hope that you find it interesting reading. I am willing to entertain any suggestions that you may have whether for articles or about the sections themselves. I am trying to appeal to a broad section of the public from the self-starter businessman to the members of the Fortune 500 companies. This will be a public forum and sounding board for techies, non-techies and gadget pundits alike.
Please feel free to leave comments on the blog posts. I look forward to reading all your ideas, questions, comments and suggestions.
